D365 Launches New Feature That Allows You to Use GS1 Barcodes to Simplify Your Scanning Process

Barcode scanning is one of the most daunting tasks for any business, let alone a warehouse or distribution center. From having to scan products multiple times to struggling with multiple data entries, warehouse workers often spend a large amount of time on such nitty-gritty that hampers their productivity.

But D365 has a new feature that can help you save time and energy on barcode scanning — GS1 barcodes!

To give you a gist of GS1 barcodes, they are global standards for identifying products, locations, and shipments. By using GS1 barcodes, you can scan a product once and get all the information you need about it. This includes the product’s name, quantity, weight, and so on. It also makes it possible for industries and companies of all kinds to move their business forward by adopting GS1 standards as the foundation of their business processes.

GS1 standards make it possible for companies to leverage the power of information by identifying, capturing, and sharing data about products, locations, and more such as to encode information like key identifiers (product, shipment, location, etc.) and key attributes (serial numbers, batch/lot numbers, dates, etc.)

Now, with the introduction of this feature, you can simplify the scanning process in warehouses where GS1 barcodes are used to label pallets and containers. And, that will allow employees to quickly scan the GS1 barcode to get all the information they need.

This saves time by removing the need for numerous scans or manual data entry while maintaining the correctness of data captured at the point of scanning. And, it enables the Warehouse Management mobile app to scan a single GS1 barcode and correctly extract all the information needed to process the task at hand.
